It's Sunday again, which means new Walgreens deals. I had a successful trip today. I think people are starting to catch on to this couponing thing...Walgreens was packed and some of the deal items were already sold out. You can get a raincheck at Walgreens and Kroger for any items that are sold out. They give you a form stating that you can buy that item when it is restocked for the sale price, even if the sale is over when they restock. This is a great way to insure you get everything you plan to buy. Today I missed out on a Gillette Proglide razor, which was on sale from $11.99 to $9.89, gave a $5 Register Reward, and I had a $4 off coupon. I would have gotten the razor for $0.89 instead of $11.99. I will go back in a few days and see if they restocked yet. This actually works in my favor because I have more time to find more coupons for this item before I go back and get it.
Here's what I got today:
The retail value of my purchases is $54.49. I paid $14.54 and got $6 in Register Rewards (which is basically Walgreens cash) making my total cost $8.54. That is savings of 84%!
One thing I noticed this week is that they did not put sale stickers up on most of the items. This made it difficult to make sure I was getting exactly the item on sale and for which I had coupons. I recommend taking your sale paper in with you so you can look at the pictures of the items to identify the correct ones. I did not take mine, but it would have been helpful to have it and would have saved me some time. The rack that holds them at the front of the store was completely empty. Another indication that more people are starting to coupon...it's going to be challenging to get there and get the deals each week before others snatch them all up. But I love a challenge.
